LITERACY STRATEGY

Aims To develop and improve students’ ability and confidence in reading, writing, speaking and listening. To ensure that all students have the literacy skills necessary to be successful in public examinations To embed the teaching of literacy across the whole school curriculum. To support teachers in other subject areas in the delivery of key literacy skills. Who is responsible for the development of Literacy? All teachers are responsible for the development of literacy skills.  They are expected to do this in two ways: by modelling good practice themselves and insisting on high standards of presentation, reading, writing, speaking and listening.  Members of the English Department will provide guidance for colleagues, with one member of the department designated as the lead for literacy.  In 2016-17, this is Miss Ogrodnik.
